Shane Beach

 

  • An All State Infielder in High School coach Beach went on to play collegiate ball at St. Clair Community College for two years and transferred to Grand Valley State University where he excelled for his final two years.   A four year letter winner and two time captain in college, Beach played every single position in college.  Primarily a power hitting catcher, Beach became very versatile in the field as he earned All-GLIAC conference honors as an Outfielder.  Beach also highlighted his pitching career beating Michigan State and Central Michigan in the same season while playing for GVSU.

  • Just out of college Beach spent time as a Grad Assistant on the Grand Valley State Lakers baseball staff working with hitters, strength and conditioning.  Beach continued his playing career beyond college playing semi-pro ball around the United State while also spending a summer playing in Canada for a United States Select Team.

  • Beach landed his 1st High School Coaching job at Kelloggsville in the mid 1990's.  At the age of 26 Beach took over the varsity program and lead them to their 1st District Championship in 28 years while advancing to the Regional finals.  Beach also spent a brief period as the Caledonia Head Baseball coach.  Coach Beach played an integral part in developing the Davenport University Baseball program as he was on staff their inaugural season.  As an assistant for Davenport Baseball coach Beach's primary focus was working with hitters and recruiting.  Most recently Beach served as an assistant Varsity baseball coach at Lowell High School and has helped, mentored other area baseball programs and schools including East Kenwood HS.

  • Beach started Backyard Dreams Baseball in 2007, with the inaugural season in 2008 consisting of 2 teams.  As Founder and President of  BYD has run as many as 17 teams in a single season including girls fast pitch softball.  Through 9 years of travel ball coaching Coach Beach's teams has amassed a record of more than 300 victories and less than 100 loses.  12 tournament Championships, a top four finish in the State of Michigan while taking teams to many venue's including Aberdeen, MD, Myrtle Beach SC, Youth Nationals in Kentucky with a 2nd place finish, Cooperstown Dreams Park in NY, Omaha NE, Atlanta GA, Fort Meyers FL including Perfect Game Series Championship and much more.  Overall Coach Beach has lead his teams to more than 500+ victories in his coaching career. Beach opened Spring Training Indoor Training Center in 2010 and sold the business in 2015 training hundreds of athletes through his tenure. 

  • Coach Beach has trained dozens of former coaches that have gone onto start their own teams and organizations.  These days Coach Beach is still involved in all these aspects including coaching Backyards Dreams 13u team, scouting, assisting various programs, hosting tournaments and Showcase events across the United States for Perfect Game, Perfect Recruits and Benchmark Showcase Management.

  • Coach Beach has been married for 20 years to his incredible wife Lisa, who is a teacher, and they have two wonderful boys, Tyus and Dawsen!
